Tickets are only 15$
Dr. Khoshnood is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Yale

On December 16th at 6:30 pm Dr. Khoshnood will be interviewed by journalist and Elena's Light staff member Emily Gordon as part of our "Lighting the Future" series.

"Lighting the Future" features different speakers from different backgrounds who all speak on a common theme: the refugee experience. Inspired by our executive director's stories about her own journey as a refugee, the series aims to shed light on refugee experiences and narratives across an array of mediums, from art to academia and more.

Dr. Khoshnood is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Yale School of Public Health and executive committee member at Yale Council on Middle East Studies. He is the co-founder of Yale Violence and Health Study Group and a faculty member of the Program on Conflict, Resiliency and Health at the Yale MacMillan Center. Dr. Khoshnood is trained as an infectious disease epidemiologist and has more than three decades of domestic and international experience in HIV prevention research among people who use drugs and other at-risk populations. His research interests include: 1) epidemiology and prevention of HIV/AIDS, 2) research ethics and 3) humanitarian health. His projects are primarily in China, Lebanon and Bhutan. He will be teaching a new course on "Health in Humanitarian Crises" in spring 2022.

This event will be held in person at Havenly in New Haven and on zoom. Tickets cost 15$ for whether you attend in person or on zoom. All proceeds go to Elena's light educational and healthcare programs. Please be masked when you are not eating or drinking.

Havenly is a cafe run by refugee women and are generously hosting us. Check out their menu for delicious snacks that can be purchased while you enjoy the event.
